A focused look at speech sounds.
If clarity of speech is the main concern, a targeted speech assessment gives you a precise answer — which sounds, what pattern, and what to do about it.
What's assessed
We sample your child's speech across single words, connected speech, and play based conversation, comparing what we hear against typical developmental patterns for their age. We also check oral motor structures and function where relevant, and screen more broadly for anything that might point toward a motor speech difficulty like CAS.
What you'll come away with
A clear explanation of whether your child's speech pattern falls inside or outside typical development, which specific sounds or patterns are affected, and , if therapy is recommended , realistic expectations for what it involves and how long it tends to take.
Good to know before you book
Play-based, not clinical
Sampling happens through games and conversation, not a rigid test format.
Whole-picture screening
We also check for anything suggesting a wider concern, not just the presenting issue.
Written report included
Useful for school, your own records, or future services.
Clear next steps
A specific recommendation, not a vague 'keep an eye on it'.
Questions parents ask
What age can a child speech assessment be done at?+
We assess speech sound development from around 2.5–3 years, when enough sounds are established to compare against typical patterns. Younger children can still be seen for a general communication check-in.
Will you tell us straight away if something's wrong?+
We'll always give you an honest initial impression at the end of the session, with the full written report to follow. We won't leave you wondering.
What if my child won't perform speech sounds 'on command'?+
Completely normal, especially for younger or shy children. We use play-based and naturalistic methods to sample speech, not just formal test items, so a quiet or reluctant child doesn't skew the picture.
